The Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Shipping Logistics Information

Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Shipping Logistics Information (SLI) is the only provincial research base on the port, shipping, logistics and information technology research and development fields in Shanghai. SLI was reported by theShanghai Maritime University in August 2009, approved to construct by Shanghai Science and Technology Commission at September 30th, 2009, and formally set up in October 2011.

Now SLI has 27 researches and other staff. Where, the structure of academic title: 27 professors, 4 associate professors, 10 lectures and engineers, 2 primary professional titles, and the structure of academic degree: 19 doctors, 7 masters. Director of the Center is Professor Huang Youfang. The structure of SLI (shown below) includes office, shipping and logistics strategy information management R&D department, shipping and logistics system operation optimization R&D department, shipping and logistics equipment information engineering R&D department, shipping and logistics management information system R&D department, and the marketing and technology promotion Department and shipping andlogistics Intelligence department.

Based on the powerful personnel and the rational organization, SLI focuses on the following four research and development directions: shipping and logistics information strategy management and decision support, shipping and logistics system operation optimization, shipping and logistics equipment remote detection, diagnosis and health assessment technology, shipping and logistics information systems.

Since the build and establishment, SLI has abstracted and captured a number of the key, common and core technologies in shipping and logistics industries, made ​​a number of international advanced level and domestic leading level technologies and industrialization fruits. Finished and ongoing numbers of projects includes the Ministry of Science and Technology 863 Projects, projects entrusted by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, key projects of the provincial and ministerial commissions, and international cooperation projects. The quantity and quality of scientific papers, national invention patents have been improving significantly. Obtained many major adwards, such as Second prize of the National Prize for the Advancement of Science, First prize of the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, First prize of China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing Science and Technology Progress Award, and so on. Developed independently the network type cranes state monitoring and evaluation system, the container terminal operation optimization and real-time monitoring system under the new processes, maritime bureau mobile administrative management system, petrochemical logistics procurement management and optimization information system, automotive logistics vehicle distribution optimization system, and so on, all these systems accepted successful promotion and wide acclaim.

SLI will continue to accumulate technology and R&D achievement, enhance the ability to provide strategy consulting and decision analysis services for the country as well as all levels government, enhance the ability to provide operation optimization, simulation, R&D technical support services in shipping and logistics information technology direction for shipping companies, logistics companies and shipping and logistics information service companies, enhance the ability to provide measurement, control, evaluation and management technology services in shipping and logistics equipment direction for the assets and equipment of shipping companies, logistics companies, and enhance the ability to provide manufacturing purchasing and logistics consulting and engineering technology R&D services for large manufacturing companies. SLI will spare no effort to accelerate the development of modern shipping and logistics industries, and support the national strategy of the Shanghai international shipping center construction.
